Set within the Hampshire countryside, Ashton Farm showcases a carefully considered landscape transformation designed to complement the character of a beautiful period farmhouse and its mature surroundings. The project combines natural stone paving, extensive gravel driveways, bespoke retaining walls and thoughtfully designed planting to create an elegant estate landscape that feels entirely at home within its setting.
The arrival to the property was reimagined through the installation of a sweeping gravel driveway that enhances the grandeur of the house while maintaining a timeless, understated appearance. Traditional York stone pathways frame the front elevation, with carefully detailed planting beds softening the transition between the house and driveway. Existing climbing plants and mature features were retained and enhanced, allowing the landscape to feel established rather than newly created.
To the rear of the property, significant level changes were transformed into a series of functional and visually striking garden spaces. Bespoke brick and flint retaining walls, natural stone terraces and carefully positioned stone steps create a seamless connection between the house and the elevated gardens beyond. Structural planting, specimen trees and clipped evergreen forms provide year-round interest, while layered perennial planting introduces texture, colour and seasonal variation throughout the landscape.
Every element of the project was completed with a focus on craftsmanship and longevity. Traditional materials were selected to complement the age and character of the property, while every paved surface, retaining wall and planting bed was constructed with the attention to detail expected of a bespoke landscape. The result is a garden that not only looks exceptional on completion but will continue to mature and improve over time.
The completed landscape has transformed the way the property is experienced. From the welcoming approach and elegant entrance to the beautifully terraced rear gardens, every space has been designed to feel connected, balanced and sympathetic to the surrounding estate. Ashton Farm is a wonderful example of how carefully planned landscaping can enhance both the architecture of a home and the enjoyment of the gardens that surround it.
